The California Drought

A statewide drought emergency was declared on October 19, 2021. The Governor has requested that all Californians reduce their use by 15%. California is experiencing its worst drought since the late 1800s, as measured by both lack of precipitation and high temperatures.

While the BBLDWP is not currently facing a water shortage, due to state regulations adopted in May 2022, commercial, industrial and institutional BBLDWP customers are prohibited from irrigating nonfunctional (solely ornamental) turf using DWP potable water starting June 10, 2022. This regulation will remain in effect for one year at a minimum.

Thank you to all of our customers who have helped the BBLDWP achieve tremendous savings over the past 20+ years resulting in an average use of just under 55 gallons per person per day. Please see the links below for ways you can conserve.
