Water System

The Department of Water and Power (DWP) operates and maintains:

  • 181 miles of pipeline
  • 51 wells - 29 groundwater and 22 slant (gravity-fed)
  • 15 reservoirs
  • 13 booster stations

Water Sources

All water is groundwater from local aquifers. Our service area encompasses approximately 13.25 square miles. The watershed encompasses 38.5 square miles with surrounding peaks of 8,000-10,000 foot elevation.

Service Connections

We have about 15,520 service connections with an annual average population of 25,000, which can surge to upwards of 100,000 people including vacation homeowners and visitors, on holiday weekends.
