The DWP Conservation Department offers free water surveys. Water surveys can be simple or quite complex.
Survey Information
We set an appointment that is convenient for you.
We can meet the homeowner, the tenant, or the landscaper as long as we have the homeowner’s permission.
Surveys can take 10 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the size of your landscape and how in-depth you need it to be.
We take a look at your irrigation schedule and irrigation system (drip, bubbler, sprinklers etc) and help identify any clear problems like broken sprinkler heads, areas of high pressure, areas of overspray, areas of dryness or excess moisture.
We measure turf to let you know how much you might be eligible for if you were to remove it.
Depending on your preference, we can perform what is known as a "can test" to determine your water usage and irrigation coverage.
Depending on your preference, we can measure the elements of your yard and plot them out on paper.
Depending on your needs we can provide plant recommendations, turf buyback estimates, recommended irrigation schedules, plot maps and more.
To most people’s surprise, we are often able to cut outdoor watering by as much as 50%, while retaining or improving the look of your landscaping. That can add up to huge savings on your water bill and just as important, huge water savings.
