June 2006: The 2006 Xeriscape Tour Showcases Native Landscapes

The 2006 Xeriscape Garden Tour was held on June 10th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Registration was held at Eminger's Mountain Nursery from 9:00 am to noon. The Xeriscape Garden Tour showcased 6-8 landscapes that exhibited attractive, low water-use gardening techniques. Examples from previous tours include: artificial turf, decks, patios, native plant gardens, use of various mulches, non-native low water-use flowering perennials, rock work and retaining walls. This year's theme was "Go Native" and emphasized using the many beautiful plants that are native to the Big Bear Valley.
