PENSTEMON - BEARDTONGUE

Penstemons are perennials native to North and Central America. They attain their greatest diversity in the mountians and deserts of the western United States and have flowers that vary in color from red, blue, purple and white. Penstemons prefer sandy or rocky well-drained soils and most do best in harsh, sunny locations. The following is a list cold and drought tolerant plants that should do well in Big Bear.
