LILIUM - LILIES
Lilies occur throughout the temperate Northern Hemisphere. Almost all are cold tolerant and most prefer well-drained soils. Their preferred habitats range from wet, boggy meadows to relatively dry woodlands. The following species occur in drier upland sites. The California natives and species from the Mediterranean Region, prefer dry soils during the summer months. Lilies from China and eastern Asia will tolerate wetter conditions during the summer months.
