SAN BERNARDINO PENSTEMON

General Characteristics: An evergreen, herbaceous plant with fleshy, blue-green leaves. Flowers & Fruits: Flowers in early Summer. Long, almost tubular purplish flowers, flaring at the tips. Each plant may produce numerous flowering stalks. Fruits maturing in early Fall. Height: Flowering stalks to 12 inches. Width: Non-flowering vegetation to 15 inches. Horticultural Notes: Available commercially with some searching. Grows well from seed or transplants moderately well. Once established, requires no irrigation. Prefers partial shade. Doesn't do well in hot, highly exposed sites. |
