CONSERVATION CORNER
SNOW AT LAST!
It's really nice to have snow on the ground
and with our recent cold temperatures, it might actually
stay awhile. Now that we are thinking about winter weather,
let's see how we are really doing for precipitation thus
far this season.

December through March are the wettest months
of the year and thus far December was slightly above average
with 6.66". Unfortunately, January was very dry, 0.39". From
July 2003 through January 2004 the dam received 10.08" and
the average for these months is 18.81", 54% of average to
date. Average annual rainfall at the dam is 36.75". So thus
far, we have only received 27% of our average annual rainfall.
We sure need a wet spring or the winter of
2003-2004 will be our 6th consecutive year with below average
precipitation. Now, more than ever, everyone in Big Bear
Valley needs to contribute towards water conservation. There
are many ways to conserve water, both indoors and outdoors.
Contact your water provider to find out the many ways you
can conserve.
