WATER FACTS FOR THE BIG BEAR VALLEY

The following are facts associated with water and water supply in the Big Bear Valley. (many others could be added or themes could be selected and presented).
  1. Did you know that this is the fifth year of below average precipitation?
  2. Did you know that landscape watering has increased dramatically in the last several years?
  3. Are you aware that watering large lawns will put you in a higher billing tier?
  4. Did you know that the average family of four uses around 20 ccf's per billing period?
  5. Did you know that it takes about six months for precipitation to percolate down to the water table?
  6. Did you know that the aquifers in the Big Bear Valley have received little recharge since 1998?
  7. Did you know that the water levels in most of DWP's wells has dropped dramatically and some may have to be shut down this summer?
  8. Did you know that lawns consume more water than any other landscape item?
  9. Did you know that reducing your water usage could save DWP thousands of dollars in new well exploration and development?
  10. Are you aware that domestic water produced in the Big Bear Valley is predominantly ground water?
